President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to uphold integrity and reject wealth obtained through dishonest means as the country seeks to rebuild and strengthen its national values.
In a message marking Ghana’s 69th Independence Day and addressed to Ghanaians living abroad on March 6, 2026, the President said the nation’s progress depends not only on policy decisions but also on a collective shift in attitudes and expectations among both leaders and citizens.
According to him, resetting the country requires a fundamental change in the relationship between those who govern and the people they serve.
“Resetting Ghana is about resetting values, resetting expectations, and resetting the very relationship between leaders and the led,” he said.
President Mahama stressed that restoring integrity and accountability must remain at the centre of Ghana’s development agenda if the nation is to move forward.
He also highlighted the importance of shaping the moral outlook of the younger generation to ensure a stronger and more responsible future for the country.
“We must teach our children that integrity is non-negotiable; that wealth acquired through dubious means is a curse and not a blessing, and that true success is measured not by what we accumulate, but what we contribute to national progress,” he added.
