GoldBod Jewellery Limited has clarified that it did not provide financial sponsorship for the 2026 Women of Valour event in the United Kingdom, following criticism on social media over claims that a state-linked institution funded the programme.
The company explained that its involvement in the event was limited to a partnership arrangement through promotional discounts offered to participants, and not financial support toward the organisation of the programme.
The clarification comes after a photograph circulated online showing GoldBod Jewellery listed among partners of the 2026 Women of Valour event held on March 7 at the London Hilton on Park Lane in London.
The image triggered questions from some social media users about why an entity associated with the Ghana Gold Board would sponsor a private event abroad.
However, in a statement shared on X, the company said it did not contribute funds to the programme.
“GoldBod Jewellery Limited is listed as one of the partners of this year’s Women of Valour event because the company offered discounts on jewellery purchases to participants of the programme as part of our ongoing Ghana Heritage Month promotions, similar to our Valentine’s Month discounts,” the statement said.
The company stressed that the arrangement was purely promotional and formed part of its efforts to market made-in-Ghana jewellery to customers both locally and internationally.
“The company did not contribute funds toward the organisation of the event,” it added.
GoldBod Jewellery further noted that its core business focuses on manufacturing and retailing made-in-Ghana jewellery for customers in Ghana and abroad.
Meanwhile, contrary to claims circulating on social media, the entity involved in the partnership was GoldBod Jewellery Limited, not the Ghana Gold Board itself.
The Women of Valour event, founded by Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, brings together women from various professional backgrounds for networking and discussions ahead of International Women’s Day.
