The Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, has clarified that the microlight aircraft which crashed in Tema on Monday, killing two people, does not belong to the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a Facebook post shared late Monday afternoon, Mr Genfi moved to address speculation about the aircraft's ownership following the fatal incident at Tema Community 1.
"We have received reports of a fatal crash involving a privately owned microlight aircraft at Tema Community 1 this afternoon," the Deputy Minister wrote.

"We wish to clarify that the aircraft is not owned by the Ghana Armed Forces."
Mr Genfi extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
"We pray for the souls of the departed and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families," his post added.

The statement comes after the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed earlier today that a microlight aircraft with registration number 9G-ADV crashed en route from Ho to Accra.
Both occupants perished in the incident.
The Deputy Minister's intervention suggests concerns had arisen among the public regarding possible military involvement in the crash.

His clarification confirms the aircraft was privately operated.
The GCAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash and says further details will be provided in due course.
