Two Members of Parliament, Fred Agbenyo and Thomas Tsekpo, have initiated fresh moves seeking the removal of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensa.
Mr Agbenyo, the MP for Guan, announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 17, that he intends to file a petition against the EC Chair, citing what he described as lingering concerns from the 2020 general elections.
According to him, the conduct of the elections in the Guan and Hohoe constituencies resulted in injustices that have yet to be resolved, raising questions about the Electoral Commission’s handling of the process.
He further argued that the situation calls into question Madam Mensa’s competence to remain in office, insisting that she should be removed.
Mr Tsekpo, MP for Hohoe, is also reported to be backing the initiative, joining calls for greater accountability within the Electoral Commission.
