Aspiring Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, says he is committed to winning back seats lost to the incumbent NDC in the previous elections if voted as Chairman of the party.
This, he says, will be complemented by increased votes in the region for the NPP Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, which he believes will improve the party’s chances of winning power from the National Democratic Congress.
Speaking after being vetted for the Chairmanship role, Mr Kwaku Appiah said, “I am coming to lead the Ashanti Region so we can do everything legally possible to increase our presidential votes, increase our parliamentary seats, and win Election 2028.”
He added that “in the next three weeks, I will be the next Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region. Nobody else.”
In the 2024 General Elections, the NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, won the Ashanti Region with approximately 1,366,800 votes, representing about 65 percent.
This was lower than the 1.79 million votes garnered by the NPP candidate in 2020.
The party lost ten out of the 47 parliamentary seats in the Region.
COKA’s vision is to build a strong and united party with structures that work effectively from the polling station to the regional office.
He said the next regional administration will prioritize collective leadership.
“We will work together. We will decide together. We will enjoy together. And yes, we will even suffer together. But most importantly, we will protect and defend our party constitution,” said Odeneho.
In his opinion, there is a need to restore the party to its glory, hence his decision to take a lead role in the Ashanti Region.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah is in a race for the Ashanti Region Chairmanship with Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who is also known for playing several roles at the grassroots of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.
