Ghanaian spiritual teachers McMaine and McKenzie, known as the Mystic Twins, have taken their spiritual work directly to African communities across the United States.
The Ghanaian spiritual teachers and media personalities, collectively known as the Mystic Twins, are redefining spiritual engagement on their ongoing tour of the United States. Shifting away from formal auditoriums and studio setups, the duo has taken their ministry directly into the everyday spaces of the African diaspora, visiting African-owned small businesses, traditional restaurants and community hubs across major metropolitan regions, including the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area and New York City.
The grassroots effort aims to deliver hands-on spiritual support, ancestral alignment and protective cleansings to African immigrants navigating the unique pressures of living, working and building businesses abroad.
Rather than limiting their U.S. presence to high-profile media appearances and celebrity link-ups, the brothers have prioritised ground-level community interaction. In neighbourhood strongholds throughout the DMV corridor and across New York’s borough communities, the Mystic Twins have been making unannounced and invited visits to West African eateries, market shops and service businesses.
Operating a business in the diaspora comes with distinct economic, mental and spiritual challenges. Recognising this, the Mystic Twins have dedicated a significant portion of their itinerary to performing energy cleansings and protective prayers inside commercial spaces.
From busy West African restaurants serving local diaspora populations to small retail shops, the duo’s work involves cleansing premises of low-vibrational energy, offering prayers for prosperity and teaching business owners traditional methods to protect their livelihoods against spiritual stagnation.
“Spiritual work shouldn’t be confined to secluded temples or formal stages,” the brothers noted during a recent community interaction. “Our ancestors walked among the people, sanctified market spaces, and kept communities grounded. Bringing this work directly into African-owned kitchens, shops, and homes in America is about reconnecting the diaspora to its roots.”
The initiative has resonated strongly with West African immigrants in the U.S., many of whom express a desire for authentic, uncommercialised traditional spiritual practices that remind them of home. During their visits, the Mystic Twins hold informal sessions with patrons and staff, discussing topics ranging from ancestral veneration and dream interpretation to safeguarding children from negative entity attachments.
As their American tour continues to unfold, the Mystic Twins’ grassroots approach highlights a growing movement among contemporary African spiritual leaders: bridging physical distances between the continent and the diaspora while anchoring traditional wisdom firmly within modern everyday life.
