The Interior Ministry is assuring of tighter security this morning at the Ringway assemblies of God church where President Mahama and his family as well the Chief Justice worship.
This follows the arrest in the church of a 36-year-old man, Charles Antwi who was in possession of a gun two weeks ago.
He has since been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
It is unclear whether President Mahama will be in church today but Interior Minister, Mark Woyongo says nothing is being left to chance to ensure the president’s protection.
"It is a lesson not only for the church but wherever the president goes from now onwards we would ensure that security is tightened and the life of the president is not endangered.
"Nobody is going to leave anything to chance. Security in the church and wherever the president goes will be tightened," Woyongo said.
Meanwhile human rights lawyer, Francis Sosu is in court seeking to overturn the 10 year jail term handed Charles Antwi.
He says there is the need for a psychiatric evaluation of his client.
