A Ghc 230 shopping spree at West Hills Mall was all that broadcast journalist, Kwame Okyere Jnr. needed to become the owner of a brand new KIA Rio Saloon Car, bringing 90 days of an exciting Scratch and Win promotion at Ghana’s biggest mall to a dramatic close.
‘I always shop at West Hills Mall, but I cannot believe that the shopping I did for Oldlady (his mother) yesterday has gotten me a brand new car,’ an elated Kwame Okyere Jnr., a talk show host at Pink FM told journalists after he was handed the keys to his new car yesterday.
To reward loyalty and introduce some more excitement into the shopping experience of customers and patrons, West Hills Mall initiated a scratch-and-win promotion in May which gave away a variety of freebies to shoppers who purchased any range of items to the tune of Ghc 100. Several hundreds of shoppers won prizes like mobile phones, power banks, Surfline data modems, top-up credits and a range of shopping vouchers, but every shopper’s expectation was to scratch and win the ultimate prize – a brand new KIA Rio saloon car.
When 150 expectant shoppers filed in to draw shuffled cards from a huge barrel on the forecourt of the mall yesterday, it was to the 25 year old broadcast journalist that fortune smiled.
‘Oh my God! I shop here with my family every weekend, especially when there is a new movie premiering here at Silverbird. I buy basic things like gadgets, clothing and food when I come here, but yesterday I came to buy provisions for the Oldlady in Amasaman whom I haven’t seen for some time. Just Ghc 230 worth of provisions and now look, I have a car!’ said Okyere still gripped in disbelief.
Before the draw commenced on the forecourt of the Mall, Mr. Kofi Sekyere, Chairman of West Hills Mall said the Mall is a multi-million dollar facility which was conceived with all levels of social classes in mind and responds to the shopping needs of all.
‘By that, I mean that West Hills Mall is open to everybody who lives in Accra – the corporate worker, the businessman, the public servant, the academic, the pensioner, the student and indeed the entire family,’ said Mr. Sekyere.
The Board Chairman said, for West Hills Mall to have put up a grand prize valued at over USD 20,000 (Ghc 76,760.00) is demonstrative of the premium the Mall and its Management place on loyalty and dedicated patronage.
Mr. Johan Venter, Assets Manager for West Hills Mall and Mr. Isaac Kyei-Mensah, a director at Delico – developers of the Mall, both took turns to remind the winner that for as long as he uses the car, he is a legitimate brand ambassador for the Mall and must therefore carry himself in a manner befitting a great brand.
West Hills Mall, a 27,000 plus square metre state-of–the-art retail shopping centre, is the biggest mall in the sub-region and is located at Dunkonah, New Weija, off the Accra-Winneba highway.
