Government has responded to myjoyonline.com publication on government’s document presented to striking doctors on the professional allowance. The doctors are demanding 50% of their basic salary per month.
The initial publication inadvertently suggested that government has accepted to pay the doctors the professional allowance.
A statement signed by the Health Minister, Alexander Segbefia says that is not the case”
The actual government position on the professional allowance states that: “This is a compensable factor considered in the nationwide job evaluation to determine the grade levels of all public service workers. It has therefore been consolidated into basic salary."
