The Ghana Consulting Engineers Association (GCEA) in collaboration with the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) is organising training workshops to boost the capacity of engineers in Ghana.
According to a statement from the GCEA, the following FIDIC-accredited training courses will be covered during the five-day workshop:
a. The Practical use of the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contract (FIDIC Contract Training Module 1) and Multilateral Development Banks Harmonized Conditions of Contract.
b. Management of Claims and the Resolution of Disputes (FIDIC Contract Training Module 2).
The courses, which will come at a fee, target professionals from the Ghana Water Company Ltd., Ghana Highway Authority, Departments of Urban & Feeder Roads, Ministries and Agencies, Private Sector Employers, members of the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association, Contractors, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Architects, Legal Advisors and all involved with the implementation and management of large contract works.
The program is scheduled to begin from June 18 and ends on June 21, 2018, at the Engineers Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra.
Ghana Consulting Engineers Association (a member of FIDIC) has the exclusive authorization from FIDIC to run FIDIC Training Courses in Ghana.
Course facilitator
The Mr.course facilitator is Bogdan Oprea (BSc CEng DEA), an accredited FIDIC trainer and experienced in the use of FIDIC Contracts.
Mr Bogban has gained international experience in various civil engineering fields in a number of countries -- Europe, Far East, Middle East and Africa.
He is a member of Dispute Resolution Board Foundation of the Romanian Association of Consulting Engineers.
He served recently as Mediator, Negotiator and Adjudicator under FIDIC conditions of Contract on several International contracts.
Mr Bogdan is a facilitator in the fields of Civil Engineering, Buildings and Infrastructures.
"The General Public is advised to ignore any FIDIC Courses being run without GCEA’s endorsement and FIDIC approval," the statement said.
