Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu is meeting with police and prosecutors Monday to examine the possibility of appealing the judgment by the Court of Appeal which acquitted two men convicted of drug charges last week.
A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, chaired by Justice Peasare, with Justice Yaw Appau and Justice Addo as members, last Friday quashed a ruling by the Fast Track High Court that convicted Kwabena Amaning, alias Tagor, and Alhaji Issah Abass and ordered their immediate release.
The two spent over 20 months in prison after the court found them guilty for their role in the missing 76 parcels of cocaine aboard a shipping vessel, MV Benjamin.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, Mrs Mould-Iddrisu said she would be convening a meeting to explore the options available to government.
