Eighteen out of 23 people involved in an accident on Cape Coast - Takoradi Highway in the Central Region are in critical condition.
The accident which happened in the early hours of Thursday involved a military ambulance and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus.
Eyewitnesses say the Sprinter bus loaded with passengers from Takoradi heading towards Accra collided with the ambulance at Komenda Safwi, a town along the road and skidded into a nearby bush.
According to Joy News's Richard Kojo Nyarko, the injured were conveyed to Takoradi and Cape Teaching Hospitals by some residents of the town and others who happened to be at the scene of the crash.
The situation caused huge traffic on the Highway in the morning.
