The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has undertaken a two-day working visit to selected companies within the metropolis to familiarise himself with their operations, discuss productivity challenges with management, and encourage business expansion to generate more employment opportunities.
The visit forms part of efforts to operationalise the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) stakeholder engagement strategy, which seeks to deepen collaboration between the Assembly and the private sector.
The initiative is aimed at improving the business climate, attracting investment, and promoting inclusive economic growth across the city.

During the tour, the Mayor also encouraged private sector participation in adopting and maintaining green public and open spaces within the metropolis as part of efforts to enhance sanitation and beautification in Accra.
The companies visited included Melcom, Mohinani Group, Ashfoam, Duraplast, Promasidor Ghana Limited, De-Luxy Paint, Latex Foam, M/S Thakar Overseas Limited, Sigma Gas Company Limited, and Royal Motors.

Speaking to the media after the engagements, the Mayor reaffirmed the AMA’s commitment, in collaboration with the government, to addressing challenges confronting businesses.

He noted that supporting companies to expand their investments would ultimately create more jobs for residents, particularly young people seeking employment opportunities.
