Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has expressed his gratitude to the Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State, by donating a total of $140,000 to various departments of the church.
The generous donation was made during a service he attended on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Rema thanked the church for its guidance and support, especially during the difficult period following his father's death. A video capturing his heartfelt gesture has since gone viral online.
"I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. I feel like it is important to give back because the church has embraced me, prayed for me, and helped me stay consistent with my spirit," Rema said.
He announced his donations as follows: "$53,000 towards the church's infrastructure, $26,500 to the Rhapsody of Realities, and another $33,000 to improve the infrastructure of the teen’s church, where I grew up."

Rema also pledged "$27,500 to support widows in the church."
The artist shared his story of how the church had supported his family during challenging times following his father’s passing.
“When I was eight years old and lost my dad, we felt lost and abandoned. Everything we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone.
"I remember Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, opened a shop for my mum, which allowed her to take care of us,” he added.
Rema's gesture has been met with admiration and praise, further highlighting his deep appreciation for the support his family received from the church during a critical time in their lives.
