The Agrihouse Foundation, a local agricultural advocacy organisation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture, will distribute hundreds of chicks to queen mothers under the government’s flagship "Nkoko Nkitinkiti" programme at this year’s Gathering of Royals on 31st March at GNAT Hall in Accra.
The event, themed “The Seeds of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming Agrifood Systems,” will bring together 600 queen mothers to discuss innovative approaches for transforming community-level agriculture across Ghana.

This year's edition is special, as it will also host the International Day of Women Farmers, recognising farmers with disabilities.
The programme will feature an Agri-Royal panel discussion with eight queen mothers, alongside participation from women farmers, agricultural students, youth groups, and agribusiness stakeholders.
According to Alberta Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, the initiative provides a platform for traditional leaders in agriculture to deliberate on sector issues and contribute to policy discussions.

The Gathering of Royals has been running for eight years, initially as part of the Women in Food and Agriculture Training Forum, but has evolved into a standalone event.
It brings together queen mothers involved in farming, agricultural input supply, and agribusiness, as well as policymakers, investors, and development partners to discuss challenges and solutions.
Angelina Essiel Tomar, representing the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, emphasised the ministry's commitment to supporting platforms that enhance knowledge sharing, capacity building, and innovative approaches to improving livelihoods at the grassroots level
