President Nana Akufo-Addo has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, for his proposed “24-hour economy” policy, describing it as vague and lacking substance.
He argued that the initiative does not offer tangible solutions to Ghana’s pressing challenges.
Addressing religious and traditional leaders alongside New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Tema West constituency during his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, the President urged voters to reject Mr Mahama in the upcoming December 7 presidential election.
He contended that Mahama’s return would fail to deliver the innovative leadership Ghana needs.
President Akufo-Addo highlighted the achievements of his administration and the NPP in implementing policies that have significantly impacted national development.
He underscored his belief that the party’s strong governance record positions them as the best choice to lead Ghana forward.
The President also praised the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the most qualified candidate to guide the nation into the future.
He emphasised Bawumia’s competence and vision, asserting that his leadership would ensure continuity in governance and accelerate Ghana’s progress.
President Akufo-Addo encouraged the electorate to focus on leadership qualities and policy-driven solutions.
He expressed confidence that the NPP’s development agenda, under Bawumia’s stewardship, would foster sustainable growth and address the nation’s challenges effectively.
“What is he [John Dramani Mahama] coming to do? 24-hour economy. You couldn’t keep the lights on in the four years in which you were in power for 12 hours a day."
“How are you going to run a 24-hour economy when 12 hours a day, you couldn’t keep the lights on? You couldn’t pay the teacher training allowance. You couldn’t pay nursing training allowance.”
