President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to welcome President-elect John Dramani Mahama to the Jubilee House on Monday, 6th January 2025, for a familiarisation tour.
This visit, part of the transition process, comes ahead of the formal handing-over ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, 7th January, 2025.
The move reflects Ghana’s tradition of peaceful political transitions, underscoring the stability of its democracy.
Accompanying the President-elect will be Vice President-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who will also use the opportunity to acquaint herself with the facilities and environment of her forthcoming official workspace.
The tour is expected to provide valuable insights into the operations of the seat of government, ensuring a seamless transition for the incoming administration.
The agenda includes introductions to key staff members, a review of critical operational facilities, and comprehensive briefings on ongoing initiatives and policies.
This structured approach aims to equip the incoming leadership with the necessary knowledge to continue essential government programmes without disruption.
The Jubilee House tour marks a symbolic yet practical step in the transfer of power. It reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to upholding the principles of democracy, as new leadership prepares to take the helm of governance.
Such gestures have become an integral part of the nation’s political culture, highlighting its dedication to unity and continuity.
President Akufo-Addo’s term officially concludes on Tuesday, 7th January 2025, when John Dramani Mahama will be inaugurated as Ghana’s new President.
The ceremony, expected to attract heads of state, diplomats, and other dignitaries, will serve as a celebration of the country’s democratic values and its unwavering commitment to peaceful governance.
