Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Afrafranto Alliance and presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, received an outpouring of love and support during his recent campaign tour of the Volta Region.

Town after town, crowds of enthusiastic residents lined the streets to welcome him, with many declaring him the “second father of the Volta Region” after the late President Jerry John Rawlings.

This title, the people explained, was their way of honouring Alan Kyerematen’s vision, humility, and unwavering commitment to the region’s development.

Alan Kyerematen was accompanied by his Policy Director, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah; his Director for Special Duties, Hopeson Adorye; Senior Alliance partners, Madam Tina Cudjoe and Richard Suma; and other senior members of his team. Their presence underscored the significance of the tour and the importance the campaign attaches to the Volta Region in the upcoming elections.

The heartfelt reception moved Alan Kyerematen deeply, as he expressed gratitude for the affection shown him. “The love I have received here is beyond what I imagined,” he said during an address to community members. “To be referred to as your second father is a profound honour, and I promise to repay this trust by delivering a transformational agenda that will uplift this region and the entire country.”

The residents, particularly women and youth in the region, praised Alan Kyerematen for his practical solutions under the Great Transformational Plan (GTP). They were particularly drawn to his promise to make the Volta Region a Skills Development Hub and the establishment of a Traders’ Bank to support businesses in the country. Many lauded his vision to invest heavily in farming, fishing, and eco-tourism, which they said aligns with the region’s natural resources.

“Our region has waited for a leader who truly understands our potential,” a community leader remarked. “Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to agriculture, fishing, and eco-tourism shows he sees us as part of Ghana’s solution, not just a political tool. This is why we call him our second father.”

Amid the jubilant scenes, Alan Kyerematen urged the people to reject claims that an independent candidate cannot win a presidential election in Ghana. “Across the country, Ghanaians are ready for change. The love and support I’ve seen here is the same wherever I go, and it gives me confidence that we will win this election,” he stated. “Ignore the propaganda of the NDC and NPP. They are afraid because they know the people are with me.”

The former Trade and Industry Minister highlighted examples of independent leaders around the world, including George Washington in America, Emmanuel Macron in France, and Patrice Talon in Benin, who have led their nations to success. “This election is about leadership, not party colours. Together, we can rewrite Ghana’s story,” he declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

The overwhelming show of affection from the Volta Region solidified Alan Kyerematen’s belief in his campaign. “This is not just a political movement; it is a national call for transformation,” he said.

As he left the region, the chants of support and the declaration of his new title as the “second father” underscored the people’s hope for a new era under his leadership.
