Special Adviser to Dr Bryan Acheampong’s campaign, Andy Appiah Kubi, has criticised the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration for what he described as a lack of discipline in public office, calling it his “biggest disappointment” during their time in government.

Speaking to the media after the vetting of Dr Acheampong, a flagbearer hopeful, on Tuesday, September 23, Mr Appiah Kubi underscored the importance of discipline as the foundation for effective governance.

“My personal singular disappointment in the previous government has been the absence of discipline in office,” he stated.

He argued that Dr Acheampong represents the antidote to this problem, describing him as a leader who will instil accountability and high standards among public officers.

“He [Bryan Acheampong] represents the disciplined one who will expect every appointee to exalt his virtue as a disciplinarian, and for that matter deliver as a public officer with all the levels of discipline expected in administration,” he said.

Highlighting Bryan Acheampong’s Track Record

Mr Appiah Kubi went on to highlight Dr Acheampong’s philanthropic contributions in education and healthcare, noting that his leadership style combines discipline, vision, and social impact.

According to him, this combination makes Dr Acheampong the most suitable candidate to restore public confidence in governance and lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.

Call for Unity Within the NPP

Mr Appiah Kubi also stressed that the NPP’s path back to power depends on uniting the party’s different factions and building a cohesive strategy.

“Dr. Acheampong’s position is that we should bring everybody on board. If we want to win power, no single campaign can do it alone,” he said.

He described Dr. Acheampong as the candidate best positioned to unite the party:

“The best position of all the candidates we see is Dr. Bryan Acheampong. He is the one who can bring the left and the right together in a team to prosecute this collective agenda.”

Mr. Appiah Kubi’s remarks come as the NPP gears up for a competitive flagbearership race, with party members closely watching which candidate can both unify the party and appeal to the wider Ghanaian electorate.
