Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to begin its vetting of deputy minister nominees appointed by President Akufo-Addo today.
A total of four appointees are expected to face the Appointments Committee, which is chaired by the Second Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, to elaborate on roles they will play to assist good governance in the second administration of the President.
Minister of State at the Finance Ministry; Charles Adu Boahen, Deputy Minister-designate for Local Government; A. C. Ntim and O. B Amoah, and Deputy Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources; Benito Owusu-Bio will be appearing before the committee.
The public hearing which is strictly by invitation will be telecast live on public broadcaster GBC at 10 am.
Meanwhile, ahead of the vetting, Member of Parliament's Finance Committee, Isaac Adongo has urged his colleagues in the Appointment's Committee to reject approval of Mr Adu-Boahen.
He argues that Mr Adu-Boahene’s private firms Black Stars Advisory, Data Bank and other advisory firms have made ¢856 million in fees on Ghana’s loans since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office in 2017.
As such, the conflict of interest makes him unfit for the role.
