The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the final three contenders for the Player of the Year award in the men’s category.
Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray and Nigeria, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Egypt, and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco have been named as the finalists.
Osimhen previously claimed the award in 2023, followed by his Super Eagles teammate in 2024. Salah, meanwhile, is a two‑time winner, having secured the honor consecutively in 2017 and 2018. All three players arrive at this year’s ceremony after stellar seasons with their clubs.
Osimhen powered Galatasaray to both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup, recording 44 appearances with 37 goals and 8 assists across all competitions.
Salah guided Liverpool to the English Premier League title, delivering 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances.
Hakimi enjoyed a trophy‑laden campaign with PSG, winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, French League, French Super Cup, and French Cup, while contributing 11 goals and 16 assists in 55 appearances.
The CAF Awards 2025 recognize outstanding contributions across both club and national competitions during the period between January 6 and October 15, 2025.
This year’s ceremony will be staged in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday, November 19.
