A minister of the gospel has called on the government and other stakeholders to formulate and implement social protection policies to ensure widows' welfare.
According to him, such policies would promote social inclusion, protect the widows against poverty and vulnerability, and help them integrate into society, among other things.
Leaders of the Voice of the Miracle Prayer Church International made this known at the inauguration of a widow’s association in Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region
The church is implementing a project aimed at ensuring the well-being of widows in its enclave, Ghana and Togo.
It established an association to bring widows under one umbrella for effective mobilization and coordination of affairs.

Under the leadership of Apostle Prophet Jacob Henyo, 500 widows who have been registered so far benefited from a donation exercise.
The Deacon of the Central Branch of the church, Ben Attah, said the initiative is a testament to the covenant between Apostle Prophet Jacob Henyo and God.
He thus supplies widows with food items, money, and other necessities to mark his birthday and glorify God for His blessings and guidance.

“The leader of our church took it upon himself to make annual donations to widows because he had identified that they were poor and vulnerable. This is a covenant between him and God. We gave them sacks of rice, wheelchairs, walking aids, and money”, he said.
Deacon Attah stressed the need for the government to make concerted efforts to ensure the well-being of widows through the introduction of specific social policies and interventions.
“Policies need to be introduced by the government to provide some financial relief to widows across the country”, he said.

The beneficiaries appreciated the support provided to them and called for an expansion of the project.
“They gave me maize and money. I thank the church for the items. May God bless our leader and give him more”, said Cecilia Agbayiza.
Edith Aborsivia said, “God bless and anoint the pastor, he should be healthy for taking interest in the well-being of his congregation."
