Coastal Development Authority (CODA) has completed the construction of durbar grounds at Victoria Park in the Mfantseman constituency of the Central region. The project was funded by the Authority under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
For decades, Victoria Park has been used as venue for major social, cultural and political events in Mfantseman and neighbouring constituencies. The construction of the durbar grounds will elevate the facility and make it befitting of its status. The Central region is noted for its rich tourism potential due to its historical heritage dating back to the colonial days.
CODA is leading the implementation of IPEP in 109 constituencies in six regions with the construction of priority projects and rolling out of initiatives to alleviate poverty and empower communities.

CODA projects in Mfantseman
Among other efforts to empower the constituency, CODA is strongly pursuing projects to enhance the potential of Mfansteman as a tourism/hospitality hub. A total of seven community centers with ancillary facilities are being constructed at Kyeakor, Abonko, AKatakyiwa, Egyase, Krofu, Ekurabaze and Asafora communities. These facilities are expected to pointedly boost the local hospitality industry in the constituency with its positive resultant effect on trade and services.
Construction is also ongoing for a 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the Mfantseman Girls SHS. CODA is also building market sheds for kenkey and bread traders at Yamoransa junction; construction of 2.5M x 2.5M double culvert at Mankessim; and construction of U-drains at Tuntuminim, Anomabo.

IPEP
Through IPEP, communities have been empowered to have a say in developmental projects implemented for their benefit to accelerate economic and social development.
