Ace Ghanaian highlife artiste Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba may incur the wrath of the leadership of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) for openly declaring his support for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Daddy Lumba was all set yesterday to accompany the NPP running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on his first official campaign tour of the three northern regions but missed the flight and would in the course of the week dash to the North to join the NPP campaign train.
The sensational musician, in support of the NPP Campaign, had collaborated with Shelter Force, a music group, to compose and arrange an eight-track campaign-album for Nana Akufo-Addo, the party’s flagbearer.
The album, titled ‘Ye re ko ye nim’, is an Akan translation of the NPP’s ‘We are moving forward’ slogan and is being sold for a paltry GH¢2.
Lumba, who enjoys a huge popularity nationwide, had already shot videos for some of the tracks on the ‘Ye re ko ye nim’ album which has Prof. Mike Oquaye, the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, as the Executive Producer.
The videos have Daddy Lumba singing and dancing with exceptionally beautiful girls who are wearing T-shirts which have embossed on them the picture of Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP flagbearer, as well as the party’s colours.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the said videos would start airing on television stations in November and that the idea of having musicians and celebrities join the NPP campaign was part of the party’s ‘Touching the Hearts of the Electorate’ campaign.
Lumba was among the many musicians who performed at the Nana Addo beach party held recently at the La Pleasure Beach in Accra.
Alhaji Mustapha Hamid, spokesperson for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, noted that the ever-green first-class talented musician, Daddy Lumba, who is loved mostly by women because of his romantic and erotic lyrics, would be part of Dr. Bawumia’s Northern regional tour which is expected to last for a week.
He said apart from entertaining the crowd with his scintillating songs, the highlife star would as well mount the stage to testify to the good works of the NPP government and what the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana would bring on the table as far as the developmental agenda of the country is concerned.
Dr. Bawumia left Accra yesterday to begin his official campaign which starts from his home region.
He was met on arrival at the Tamale Airport by a mammoth crowd, including the Northern Regional Minister, Mustapha Idris; Works and Housing Minister, Alhaji Saddique Abubakar Boniface; Women and Children’s Affairs Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama and other party big shots.
