The gentleman in the center of the brawl between the Ghana Police Service and the British High Commissioner, says the latter’s letter communicates the intentions of the government to oppress persons with dissenting views.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor said this is proof of how the government will deal with anyone who interacts with legal issues concerning him.
“That letter is all the evidence you need of the exact messaging the President and his cabinet want to send all judges and every person who will interact with any legal issue concerning me.”
“That they will come after you if you dare do anything different.”

Barker-Vormawor in a press release issued on Wednesday, June 1, said if the state sends such an “acerbic response” to a diplomatic, then worse will be done to CSOs and prominent persons who criticize it.
“If the State delivers this acerbic response to the British High Commissioner over a tweet no one saw, what do you think lies in store for any CSO, prominent person who criticizes the government for their open and brazen harassment.”
What letter is Barker-Vormawor talking about?
The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, May 31, replied the British High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson’s comments in relation to the arrest of the convener of the FixTheCountry Movement.
The Police in a letter signed by the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to the British High Commissioner, Madam Harriet Thompson said her tweet was from either a “biased or uninformed position.”
“Ordinarily, the Ghana Police Service would not have responded to comments such as yours, obviously made from either a biased or uninformed position.”
“However, we have learnt from a previous painful experience that it has not been helpful to ignore such misguided, unwarranted, and biased comments intended to tarnish the reputation of the Ghana Police Service and that of our country.”
The letter also stated that the British High Commissioner’s tweet violates the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“What is more, we consider your tweet as a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961 which enjoins diplomatic missions not to interfere in the internal affairs of their host country”
What did Madam Harriet Thompson say in her tweet?
