Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has donated a substantial quantity of food items to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in recognition of their service and sacrifices.
The donation, made on Thursday, 27th March, included 5,000 five-kilogram bags of rice, 6,255 bottles of cooking oil, 4,800 tins of mackerel, and 4,800 tins of tomatoes.
In a Facebook post on Friday, 28th March, Dr Boamah expressed hope that the donation would help boost the troops' morale.

He also extended his gratitude to entrepreneur and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama of Dzata Cement for supporting the initiative.
"This gesture is in appreciation of the services and sacrifices of our women and men in uniform. It is hoped that this donation will boost the morale of our troops," he stated.
Dr Boamah also acknowledged the approval of the Ministry of Defence’s budget by Parliament, which he described as a crucial step towards addressing financial challenges within the Armed Forces.
The approved budget of over GH¢6 billion is expected to facilitate the clearance of an outstanding GH¢275 million debt owed to food suppliers, which has accumulated over 17 months, from August 2023 to December 2024.
Furthermore, the Defence Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring food security for the Armed Forces by adopting mechanised farming.
He stated that this initiative aims to reduce the military’s food bill while contributing to efforts to curb inflation.
"We're solving the problems, and we shall remind Ghanaians, lest we forget!" Dr Boamah emphasised.
