Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has introduced a novel concept, referring to tourism as the "Octopus Unit", as he pushes for self-reliance and accelerated growth in the nation's thriving creative arts sector.
In a recent interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the Deputy Minister for Creative Arts and Tourism shed light on the distinct roles of tourism and creative arts within the national economy.
He encouraged those in the creative arts industry to cease making comparisons to tourism, which he described as an "octopus unit" due to its extensive reach and contribution across various sectors in the country.
The Deputy Minister highlighted how tourism's multifaceted nature allows it to serve the whole nation, providing opportunities for countless individuals and industries to tap into its benefits.
By labeling tourism as the "octopus unit," he underscored its widespread accessibility and impact on economic growth and development.
Urging the creative arts sector to embrace its unique identity and potential, the Deputy Minister called for strategic initiatives that can foster individual growth and success.
His remarks aim to inspire stakeholders within the creative arts to harness their distinct resources and talents, positioning the sector as a robust and independent pillar in the country's cultural and economic landscape.
