Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Old Tafo, has urged his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs not to defend Kwabena Adu Boahene, who has been accused of misappropriating some State funds if the allegations are proven to be true.
Speaking on JoyNews' AM Show on Tuesday, March 25, Mr Assafuah stated that if the allegations are proven to be accurate, he expects no member of the NPP to defend Adu Boahene’s actions. "If this is true, I am warning party persons, NPP persons, in the event that this is proven that this is true please don't go and defend it because we are building a nation"
The alleged wrongdoing was revealed by the Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, on Monday, 24 March.
According to Dr Ayine, Adu-Boahene who served as Director General of National Signals Bureau between 2017 and 2025 embezzled millions of dollars intended for a cyber defence project and diverted them into real estate investments in Accra and overseas.
