Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Otokunor has described the invitation by the Electoral Commission (EC) to discuss issues on the 2020 elections as unethical.

"We received the invitation letter to the IPAC which is a little surprising because we didn’t expect the EC will have the effrontery or the temerity to invite us to discuss the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections especially, as they were derelict on their responsibility to defend what they handled in 2020 as an election at the Supreme Court," he stated.

His comment comes after the NDC rejected to join the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2021, with the aim of reviewing the 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections.

Speaking on Joy FM Wednesday, Mr Otokunor indicated that the party sees no reason why the EC will invite them to discuss the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections when it refused to comment on the election's outcome at the Supreme Court.

The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa despite a legal intervention by the NDC, refused to mount the witness box to defend allegations of alterations made to the December election results.

The NDC Deputy General Secretary further added that in order to prevent the EC from manipulating figures in the future, the NDC has taken measures against such acts.

"We have decided to move on, now moving on means that reviewing the role and identifying the exact role the electoral commission played in the manipulation of the results for that reason we will have to put in corrective measures that will prevent the electoral commission from doing same in future and that is exactly what we are doing," Mr Otokunor disclosed.
