The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in tribal politics and religious discrimination in their campaign for the December 7 general elections.

Addressing the NPP’s final campaign rally at the University of Ghana Sports Complex on Thursday, December 5, Kodua alleged that the NDC's campaign strategy is a sign of desperation as they sense defeat in the upcoming elections.

"The NDC has seen that the election we will be having on Saturday, they have lost. They are sensing their impending defeat and have now resorted to tribal politics and religious discrimination," Mr Kodua stated.

He criticized the NDC for allegedly introducing religion into the political discourse, a practice he claimed has never been a part of Ghana’s electoral history.

"Since Ghana gained its independence in 1957 to now, we have never gone to the polls using religion as a basis for politics. We are all Ghanaians. Whether you are a Christian, whether you don’t attend church, whether you are a Muslim, what matters to us is your knowledge and capacity to govern the nation," he stressed.

Mr Kodua further called for unity among Ghanaians, irrespective of their religious or tribal affiliations, and expressed confidence in the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

"God has love for everyone, and He is everywhere. I can assure you that with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, we are going to have a dynamic president of the Republic," he added.

The NPP’s final rally drew thousands of supporters, marking the culmination of the party’s campaign efforts to secure a mandate for continuity in governance.
