A member of President Akufo-Addo’s legal team, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has described as ‘bogus’, a claim by John Mahama’s legal team that the Supreme Court panel hearing the 2020 election petition is unfair and unbalanced.
According to Mr Oppong-Nkrumah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is engaged in a plot to set the court up for public ridicule.
The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP also cited allegations of bribery levelled by Asawaase MP Muntaka Mubarak against a Supreme Court judge as part of a grand scheme by the NDC to undermine the authority of the judiciary.
“The NDC is on the path to smear and undermine the integrity of the Supreme Court and the justices of the Supreme Court and they are doing that because it is clear in their minds that this petition before the Court is a ruse,” he told Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye on the JoyNews’ AM Show Friday.
Earlier today, a member of Mr Mahama’s legal team, Dr Abdul Baasit Bamba described the seven-member panel to hear the 2020 election petition as unfair and unbalanced.
In his view, aside Justice Yaw Appau who was appointed to the Supreme Court by the NDC’s John Mahama in June 2015 the remaining the judges who are on the panel were mainly appointed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) governments.
But reacting to this, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said, “This is one of the most bogus analysis I have ever heard".
