The Paramount Chief of the Abutia Traditional Area, Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V has advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to be complacent in its campaign activities ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He entreated the party faithful to form a synergy and embark on a comprehensive campaign to maintain power, as the NPP has exhibited to be more development-oriented.
Togbega Gidi said this when the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Matthew Opoku Prempeh paid a courtesy call on him during the climax of his 25th anniversary celebration at Abutia.
“We have to work hard. The tendency is that everybody is trying to get something for himself and all that. So, how to come together, stay strong, and then move forward as a team is difficult.
“But this is the time we have to put all those things behind us, do the right thing, move from house to house. And tell people the good things that the NPP is doing from house to house as you did previously to bring the party to power”, he said.
Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V asserted that during his 25-year rule, the NPP’s development projects in the area were unmatched.
He, therefore endorsed the candidature of Mathew Opoku Prempeh, hoping the Abutia Traditional Area would witness accelerated development during the next NPP administration.
“My prayer is that you ascend to the office of the Vice President and with that, I know because you are part of Abutia, when you are there, you will remember us”, he stressed.
Addressing the anniversary thanksgiving service for Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, Mr. Prempeh pledged the NPP’s unflinching commitment to the development of Abutia.
“I remain committed to advocating for the needs of the Abutia community, whether I am in power or not,” he stated
A leading NPP Member, Elizabeth Ohene who reigns from Abutia implored electorates in the area to vote for the NPP in a show of gratitude for the development projects.
“It is disheartening to see the trends in the voting behavior of the people of Abutia and if it would take me to tell you how supportive the NPP through me has been to the people of Abutia then God help us all,” she remarked, urging the community to consider the benefits from the NPP and vote it to maintain power.
