A government vehicle - Toyota Hilux double cabin pick up with registration number GV 301-22 belonging to the Fisheries Commission, has been reportedly snatched by armed gunmen at Tamale in the Northern Region.
The Monday, August 7 robbery is said to have occurred at the residence of the Savannah Regional Fisheries Director.
This latest incident brings to two the number of official government vehicles belonging to the newly created Savannah Region that have been reportedly stolen.
The first incident occurred around the Tamale Islamic Senior High School on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

The Savannah Regional Security Council is set to launch an investigations into the latest incident.
Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril said, although the case has been reported to the police, they will constitute a committee to look into the matter.
“I also got the information only yesterday [Tuesday] through social media and through my regional coordinating director that the regional fisheries office pick-up has been snatched in Tamale by armed robbers at gunpoint.
“I am reliably informed that the matter has been reported to the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters so they are investigating. However, I have invited him [Fisheries Director ] to my office tomorrow [Thursday] so that we can also set up our parallel investigation committee to look into the matter.”   Â
He also stated that the first theft case in the region is still pending in court and that efforts are being made to bring it to a close, but the vehicle is still missing.
