A 38-year-old trader was on Thursday killed in an accident at Bibiani, the capital of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District.
Yaa Badu, a popular fried-yam seller, who plies her business by the roadside, was said to be attending to a customer, when a speeding cargo truck run over her.
She died shortly on arrival at the Bibiani Government Hospital.
Police Chief Inspector Isaac Darkwah, Officer-in-charge of the District’s Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said the suspect-driver was on the run.
The truck had been impounded and the body of the deceased deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
