The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has strongly condemned ‘disgusting’ utterances made by Counsellor George Lutterodt about rape victims.
Mr Lutterodt, on Adom TV on July 8, posited that "every rape victim enjoys the act," a statement which a cross-section of Ghanaians has taken exception to.
According to a statement signed by Cynthia Morrison, “there is no justification for him to make such a maligning statement on television or in private” and called on the National Media Commission to ban him from making appearances on shows.

The Minister described his views on the subject of rape as disgusting and his person as “a threat and danger to the general public” for what many critics say is the perpetuation of rape culture.
She also wants the counsellor to demonstrate his remorse by retracting and apologising for the comments.
“We also call on him to unreservedly retract his unsubstantiated and insensitive comments and apologise to the general public,” the July 10 statement read.
Furthermore, the Ministry is demanding that the Ghana Psychology Council initiates steps to sanction him.
The Geneder Minister joins a tall list of institutions and personalities to express their disdain by George Lutterodt’s statement.
They include Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, actors Lydia Forson, Ama .K. Abebrese and Juliet Ibrahim, musicians E.L and Joey B among others.
