The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Joshua Vidzro, in the Ketu North Municipality, to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students.
In a statement issued on Saturday, December 6, under the authority of the Director-General of the GES and communicated through the Regional Directorate of Education noted that the decision forms part of an administrative process to enable an urgent and impartial investigation into the allegations.
According to the letter addressed to the headmaster, his temporary removal from office is intended to “guarantee the integrity of the investigative process and preclude any real or perceived interference”.
The GES emphasised that stepping aside is not an admission or presumption of guilt, but a procedural safeguard to ensure transparency, accountability and fairness.

"Accordingly, you are hereby instructed to forthwith, formally hand over all official duties, responsibilities, records, and any property of the Dzodze-Penyi SHS presently under your custody to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North," the statement added.
He has also been ordered to vacate the school premises from Monday, December 8, after completing the handover process.
Additionally, the GES has directed him to remain available to assist authorities with the investigation and to refrain from any direct or indirect contact with the students involved or any potential witnesses.
“For the avoidance of doubt,” the statement noted, “this directive does not constitute a determination or presumption of guilt on your part, but is an administrative measure issued in furtherance of due process and institutional accountability.”
In the interim, the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked to assume responsibility for the administration and management of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School until further notice.
