Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo, has criticized his executives for lacking the understanding of the oath of allegiance they swear to the institution.
GHALCA executives distanced themselves from their leader’s pronouncements after he granted an interview calling for the impeachment of GFA President Kurt Okraku.
The former AshGold CEO, announced his plans to garner support for the removal of the GFA President, citing the Black Stars struggles in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers as the main reason.
However, his executives released a press statement saying GHALCA is against the use of the association as a tool to create instability in the football management of the country.
The GHALCA statement further explained that Fianoe’s remarks were his personal opinion which should not be seen as representing that of the association.
Reacting to the stance of his executives, the former Ashgold boss is of the view that his executives do not know what they are about.
“They [GHALCA] have lost it; they don’t even understand and know why they swore oath of allegiance to GHALCA. I don’t think they knew the import of that extract when they brought a whole judge from the Supreme Court to swear us into office. I don’t think they understood what was happening. They thought it was just an exercise that was done. So, I leave them to their conscience. I’m not looking back; I’m not thinking of what they’re doing. If what I’m doing is wrong, I don’t need them to judge me,” he stressed.
Fianoo has been very critical of the current FA leadership, citing a litany of failures including the lack of sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League, poor performance of the various national teams, and waste of taxpayers' money on management committee members of the Black Stars among others.
