Chief Executive Officer for Agric Impact-Ghana and convener for Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit, Rev Evans Kyere-Mensah, is targeting about one million Ghanaian youth in the agriculture value chain within the next five years.
According to him, these projections include training of the youth in farm mechanisation, agriculture processing, farm equipment services, marketing and distribution of farm produce and farm field work.
Speaking at the Ghana Youth and Agriculture Summit 2024 on the theme: "Transforming agriculture for sustainable growth through innovation, empowering youth, women and climate action,” Evans Kyere Mensah noted that these initiations are aimed at unearthing the talents of the youth in the agriculture value chain.

"The aim is to mobilise young people across the country to channel their energies into profitable business in agriculture to enhance food security,” Rev Kyere-Mensah stressed.
The summit brought together over two thousand youth from variou regions across the country. This is to conscientise the young ones on the benefit of agriculture and to develop their interest in same.

Various individual young farmer processors who are involved in innovative ways of developing farm produce into well-packaged finished goods were part of the patrons at this year’s summit.
Evans Kyere-Mensah further noted that there are several demands in the value additions from the agriculture value chain, and the potential to have great impacts on the economic development of Ghana.

He, however, highlighted funding as the major challenge in supporting the program. He cited areas including field work where farm fields and starter packs had to be allocated to the youth who have undergone the training.
Urging stakeholders to come on board and support, he noted that five years from now, when the projects persist, they will have a positive impact on the economy of Ghana.
