A book on “Healthy Secrets”, a compilation of the writings on health and healthcare by Dr Alexander Nii Oto Dodoo, a Ghanaian Academic and Pharmacist has been launched in Geneva, Switzerland.
The book, which contains 50 stories on health issues published in the Weekly Spectator in Ghana from 2005 to 2007, provides information and advice on how to deal with a wide range of medical conditions such as shyness, erectile dysfunction, malaria, bed wetting, snoring, vomiting, athletes’ foot and vaginal thrush or “white”.
Healthy Secrets hailed globally as an authoritative world class book on health was launched on Friday, February 4, by Dr Paul Lalvani, President of Empower School of Health India.
Dr Shanti Pal, Deputy Director of World Health Organisation recommended the book to “all those who use medicines”.
Healthy Secrets is due to be launched in Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Mauritius and Tanzania within the next two months.
The grand launch in Ghana is scheduled for late April or mid May.
The book contains sections on medications, ailments, medicines and drug interactions, medicines and gender, health professionals and lifestyle and health promotions.
Dr Dodoo is a renowned expert in Pharmacovigilance with a deep interest in healthcare communication.
He was educated at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the University of Alberta (Canada) and King’s College, University of London (UK).
Dr Dodoo is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Tropical Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Ghana Medical School. His main area of work is patient safety.
He is currently the President of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance and President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
The book was published by Creative Trends, a Ghanaian Marketing, Advertising and Event Management Firm.
