Talented midfielder Emmanuel Dzigbah has completed a loan move to Serbian SuperLiga side FK Cukaricki from Accra Lions FC with an option to buy.
Cukaricki had already reached an agreement with Accra Lions for the player's signature but had to wait until he turned 18 to acquire his services per the terms of the agreement.
In an official statement, the club's technical director Goran Grkinić disclosed that Dzigbah first caught his attention when Accra Lions youth travelled to Serbia to play friendly games against Cukaricki and Red Star Belgrade.
“We noticed this player when he played a friendly match with his club against our youth team, and then against Red Star. He made a big difference in those matches, we reacted immediately and we quickly agreed with his club.”
Grkinić also commented on the details of the move and what Dzigbah brings to the side.
“Dzigbah comes on a one-year loan with the right to buy. He has shown that he is very promising, he has already played about thirty matches in the Ghana Premier League, and he is a representative of his country at that age. He plays as a defensive midfielder and can play two more positions in the midfield.”
"We have already been looking for a player in that position, he is very young, but nevertheless he has some experience in senior football and we expect him to show all his potential and be a starter in the foreseeable future.”
Dzigbah proved to be a key player for Accra Lions last season despite only being 17 years old at the time.
The dynamic midfielder played 27 games that campaign, helping his team to a second-place finish on the Ghana Premier League table.
He has also made a total of 6 appearances for Ghana's U-17 side the Black Starlets.
