Ghanaian professional golfers and Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria Oder of Merit Leader, Emos Korblah, led the pack of Ghanaian players that silenced their Nigerian counterparts at the grand finale of the Glo Golf Tour West Africa. At the event, which took place at the Otukpo Golf and Country Club, the Ghanaians made a strong finish to place first, second and fourth places. Korblah, overtook compatriot Vincent Torgah in the third round and maintained the lead finished with -5 under par having amassed a combined score of 283. He earned a princely N2.7. Vincent, who finished second with -4 went home with N1.5 million while Nigeria’s Edet Umoh, who finished third with +4 over par earned N1.2 million for his effort. The third Ghanaian in the first 10, Ghenyor A., finished in 4th place while Cameroun’s Desire Ebela finished in fifth position. The grand finale of the maiden Glo Golf Tour West Africa had the biggest winning purse of N25 million. Umoh came from behind to grab the third place in Otukpo. Even though he seen as one of the few Nigerians that was capable of giving the Ghanaians a good fight, he did not have a great time in the tour. All through the tour, Korblah showed class finishing inside the first four in two events and winning two. He started the Otukpo event as the overwhelming favourite being a member of the club and having sufficient knowledge of the host club. Speaking to The Guardian after his victory, he said his victory was due to hard work and perseverance even as he was full of praises for the sponsoring firm. While describing the Glo Tour as “special”, he called on other firms to follow the Globacom example and sponsor tournaments.
