The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) says it has designated the Ghana International Press Centre (GIPC) as a hub for press conferences on election-related matters.
This initiative, part of the GJA’s efforts to promote credible and successful elections, is aimed at providing a central and convenient location for political actors and the media during the electoral period.
In a press release issued by the General Secretary of the GJA, Mr Kofi Yeboah, the association announced that the Gifty Afenyi Dadzie Conference Hall at the GIPC will be available for political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to hold press conferences.
The GJA therefore encouraged media houses to station news teams at the Press Centre to ensure comprehensive coverage of these engagements.
Additionally, the GJA revealed plans to establish a National Media Collation Centre (NMCC) at the GIPC. This facility will be used to collect and collate election results, with projections displayed on giant monitors.
The NMCC aims to serve as a reliable source of information for the media, political actors, and the general public.
“The GJA is committed to facilitating credible elections, and this initiative underscores our role in ensuring transparency and accessibility during this critical period,” the release stated.
The association expressed confidence in the project’s ability to foster productive interactions between political actors and the media, ultimately contributing to peaceful and credible elections.
Media houses have been encouraged to fully utilise the resources at the GIPC and participate actively in the activities planned by the GJA.
