It was glitz and glamour, last weekend, on the campus of Saint Mary’s Senior High School located at Korlegonor, one of Accra’s old suburbs, when distinguished past students of the school converged to celebrate its 70th milestone.
The Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Jean Mensa, 2nd Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi, Honorary Consul of Ghana in Calgary, Canada, Ms. Margaret Adu, Administrator of District Assemblies Common Fund and former Tema MP, Mrs Irene Naa Torshie Lartey, were among the many notable names who joined the school to mark the august celebration.
Established by the Roman Catholic Church in 1950, Saint Mary’s Senior High School has produced the likes of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayokor Botchwey, Director of Division UNESCO Headquarters, Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng, Founder of the EKGS Culinary Institute, Mrs Efua Otua Goode Obeng-Kye and the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo.
A special anniversary cake donated by EKGS Culinary Institute was cut to climax the year-long celebration.
Sanitation Minister, Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah, read a speech on behalf of President Nana Akufo-Addo who was billed to be the Special Guest of Honour.
