President Nana Akufo-Addo also shared his heartfelt message to the government of Turkey and the Ghanaian populace and also prayed for the Ghanaian star.

Former President John Mahama also took to the micro-blogging site saying “Let’s continue to pray for our brother, Christian Atsu, and his club director. The city of Hayat is in the region affected by the earthquake. Let’s continue to pray that God spares their lives.”

However, in the early hours of Tuesday, the Turkis media reported that the former Black Stars forward has been pulled from the wreckage and is alive.

The club’s Sporting Director, Taner Savut is reportedly still unaccounted for. But the winger has since been taken to the hospital, as per the club’s manager, Mustafa Özat.

“I just had another meeting. Christian Atsu was taken to hospital with injuries.”

Turkish reporter, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu told Joy Sports the winger’s health is currently being monitored.

“It’s good news but we’re following his condition because when someone is rescued from under rubble, it means he hasn’t eaten or drank anything. So the person’s condition is very important after the rescue. That’s why we’re following up with the hospital.”

In light of this new development, social media users have since thanked God for the life of the Hatayspor winger.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, joined the tweeps to express their gratitude to God and wished him a speedy recovery.

The Ghana Football Association has also asked the Ghanaian populace to continue praying for Christian Atsu.
