Global Media Alliance (GMA), in partnership with Japan Motors, has launched the 16th edition of the Corporate Run and Walk, scheduled for September 21, 2026.

The annual five-kilometre event promotes workplace wellness while supporting persons living with visual impairment. Held in commemoration of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, the run will take place simultaneously across the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Northern Regions.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, Ernest Boateng, reiterated that the initiative had over the past sixteen years, evolved into more than just a corporate fitness event.

“This initiative started with a simple idea to bring Corporate Ghana together to promote health, build stronger connections and support a meaningful cause.

"Today, it has become a platform that demonstrates how businesses can come together to improve lives while investing in the wellbeing of their people,” he said.

Mr. Boateng explained that the event is built around the values of health, unity and inclusion, adding that 25 per cent of the proceeds from the event will once again be donated to the Ghana Blind Union to support persons living with visual impairment.

The Executive Director of Lakeside Estate and Silver Star Tower, Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, described the Corporate Run and Walk as “a race of impact”, noting that the initiative has consistently prioritised social impact over competition.

“For 16 years, this has never been simply a race with a charity attached to it. It has been a charity supported through a race. Every contribution helps restore dignity, independence and opportunity to persons living with visual impairment because, as we always say, mobility is freedom,” he stated.

He highlighted the concept of the “Personal Best” (PB), explaining that participants are not necessarily competing against one another but are challenged to improve on their own performance.

“You are not running against anyone; you are running for yourself. It is about achieving your personal best. The Corporate Run is a race of impact. We do not run only for lifestyle; we run to make an impact and contribute meaningfully to society,” he added.

He said this year's donation would go towards the provision of tandem bicycles and other mobility support to help improve the independence and mobility of persons living with visual impairment.

The Marketing Manager of Japan Motors, Mabel Offei, reaffirmed the company's commitment to the initiative, describing the sixteen-year partnership as a reflection of the company's belief in giving back to society.

“Japan Motors is proud to continue supporting this initiative because it aligns with our commitment to improving lives.

"We encourage organisations and individuals to join this year's event, knowing that every registration and every sponsorship contribute to a worthy cause while promoting healthier workplaces,” she said.

Corporate institutions are encouraged to register their teams to participate in this year's edition as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives, while individuals are also invited to participate at a registration fee of GH¢100.

Registration tickets are available at Silver Star Towers offices in Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale. Registration forms can also be obtained from the Global Media Alliance office in Dzorwulu, Happy FM at Asylum Down, Silverbird Cinemas at Accra Mall, YFM.
