The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Foundation is constructing a multipurpose Astroturf pitch in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region.
The project is to be executed at the Lawra stadium and is intended to give a new face to sporting activities in the municipality, and at the same time improve upon the economic well-being of the people.
The duration of the project is 6 months and when completed it will be the first Astroturf pitch in the Upper West region.
The executive director of the GNPC, Dr Dominic Kwesi Eduah said the project is part of projects outlined to impact the lives of 10 million people in the country in the next 5 years.
In a brief remark before cutting the sod for the construction of the ultra-modern Astroturf pitch, Dr Eduah noted that youth infrastructure was in tandem with youth empowerment, and explained the importance of the project to the economic empowerment unit of the GNPC.
Dr Dominic Kwesi Eduah urged the people to give their maximum support and cooperation to the contractor to execute the job.
