The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak-Mohammed, has renewed the curfew on Nkwanta township and surrounding communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, effective Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The new curfew hours run from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, following advice from the Oti Regional Security Council and through an Executive Instrument.
In a statement, the Minister appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents to remain calm and use peaceful, non-violent means in addressing challenges facing the area.
A total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons in the township remains in force.
Security agencies have warned that anyone found in breach of the ban will be arrested and prosecuted.
