The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South, Mr Gabriel Barima has been reprimanded by government over his conduct during a gathering of hospital employees in the District.
Mr Barima during an end of year programme for the District Health Directorate at Mankranso was seen on video trading words with an unidentified person after the person chuckled when he (Barima) was giving a speech.
A statement released Thursday and signed by the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Emmanuel Kojo Agyekum said the reprimand follows investigations into the matter and a subsequent meeting between the Local Government Minister and Mr Barima.
According to the statement, government took into account the DCE's profuse apologies and genuine show of remorse following the incident.
“Government takes a very serious view of Mr Barima's conduct as it runs contrary to provisions in the code of conduct for public officials launched last year,” the statement said.
The code of conduct for public officials enjoins every public official to display utmost courtesy and decorum when interfacing with members of the public.
Mr Barima has, however, been to refrain from similar conduct in the future and show better leadership in his dealings with the people of his District.
