The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery and safeguard patient safety.
The directive, announced by the Ministry of Health in a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, instructs the Technical Adviser to the ministry, Dr Korku Awoonor, to constitute a technical working group to assess the structural integrity, operational capacity and overall productivity of health facilities in the region.
The order was issued during a two-day management retreat of the Ministry of Health and forms part of the government’s broader agenda to tighten oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public facilities nationwide meet approved safety, quality and performance standards.
In a related move, the Health Minister has also directed the introduction of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country to improve hygiene and enhance patient experience.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to strengthen infection prevention and control measures while creating safer and more patient-friendly healthcare environments.
According to the ministry, the combined measures underscore its commitment to raising standards in the health sector through proactive supervision, improved facility management and sustained investment in quality healthcare delivery.
