The Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to actively support the government’s renewed health sector reforms aimed at addressing long-standing inequalities in healthcare delivery.
He said this at the GMA’s 67th Annual Conference, themed “Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for Sustainable Healthcare Delivery."

Mr Akandoh highlighted key initiatives, including the decentralised posting of doctors, the Free Primary Health Care policy, and the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund, all designed to ensure quality care reaches underserved communities across the country.
He urged the GMA to play a central role in bolstering public–private collaboration, noting plans to open selected Agenda 111 facilities and key service areas, such as diagnostics and primary care, to strategic partnerships.

Mr Akandoh emphasised that strong professional cooperation is critical to the success of these reforms and described the GMA as an indispensable partner in building a fair, people-centred, and sustainable healthcare system.
